[Also in Division F4] An astronaut's pressure suit 1 is supplied with gas for pressure and breathing purposes, is ventilated by a gas ventilating system and is cooled by a closed circuit liquid cooling system. The breathing and pressurizing gas is supplied from pressurized oxygen container 4, from which oxygen flows through pipe 27 in which it is heated as it ' circulates liquid reservoir 3, manually operated two-way valve 28, pipe 29, pressure reducing valve 31, orifice 32 and pipe 33 to the helmet of the suit. The gas for ventilating the suit passes from pipe 29 to pump 26 and is distributed throughout the suit 1, from which it removes excess moisture, and is then withdrawn from suit 1, passed through liquid boiler heat exchanger 2 and then water separator 24, after which it is passed to pump 26. If there is a failure in 31, 32 or 26, the two-way valve 28 is opened such that oxygen passes through by-pass pipe 30 to the suit 1. Also connected to the breathing gas supply are demand pressurisation regulator 38 and audible warning device 41. The suit 1 is cooled by liquid circulating through circuit 5 which passes through the suit 1 and liquid boiler heat exchanger 2. The liquid boiler 2 has a discharge valve 15 controlled by temperature sensitive means such that it tends to close when the temperature in boiler 2 is below a predetermined predetermined temperature. The liquid boiler is supplied by liquid from pressurised liquid reservoir 3 by a line in which there is a construction and a valve 16, the valve 16 being controlled by temperature sensitive means.
