[Also in Division G1] In a self-adjusting bearing the knife-edge of a balance is supported on plates 12, 13 lying in intersecting planes, each plate being mounted by two balls 8, 9, 10, 11 on respective bearing surfaces 2, 3 also lying in intersecting planes and formed on bearing block 1, a pair of springs 4, 5 and 6, 7 being associated with each plate, each spring having one end fixed in the block and its free end projecting through an opening in the associated plate, the openings being so arranged and dimensioned that the plate bears against only one spring, the other serving to guide it. Instead of springs 4 ... 7 forming ball cages as shown, a plate-shaped cage may be used, suspended or guided by springs passing through slots in the cage.
