摘要
1,041,928. Umbrellas. G. L. M. SCOTT. July 28, 1965 [Aug. 6, 1964], No. 32110/64. Headings A4P and A4U. An umbrella or parasol comprises a shaft 1 of polygonal cross-section (Fig. 1, not shown) having aligned spring-urged detents 2, 3 and a separate, easily replaceable cover unit consisting of a runner sleeve 7 slidable on the shaft, stretchers 8 pivoted on the runner, a ring 10 detachably secured to a threaded extension 5 of the shaft by an internally threaded ferruled cap 12, and a cover 6 attached to the ribs 9 which are pivoted to the ring and to the stretchers. The runner has a slot 7a to accommodate the detents in open and closed positions of the umbrella, the detent 3 having a slot 4 which is engaged by a land between the proximal end of the runner and an end of the slot 7a to obviate the need for a stop arresting movement of the runner to open the umbrella. A tip cup 13, a name band, and handle 14 are fitted to the shaft. In modifications the crosssection of the shaft is of other non-circular shape, e.g. segmental, or the cap is secured by a bayonet connection.
