1,152,838. Slab walls. A. RUPRECHT. 25 July, 1966 [27 July, 1965], No. 33413/66. Heading E1B. Reinforced-concrete wall slabs 12, with or without superposed single or double ceiling slabs 14, are supported by internal steel columns which are built up, by interconnecting tubes 16, 19 having lengths equal respectively to the height of the wall slab and the thickness of the ceiling slab adjacent columns of juxtaposed wall slabs being interconnected by horizontal link plates 22. As shown the tubes have centering flanges 17, 18, 20 and each slab is apertured for lowering over a fixed tube 16 with the assistance of a removable centering cone. In a modification the tubes 16, 19 are cast in the slabs. The horizontal link plates, Figs. 7-10 (not shown) may be rectangular or cruciform and may be of steel or a steel/rubber sandwich. A similar plate may be inverted in the horizontal joint intermediate the plates 22. The space around a tube 16 may be filled with fire-resistant material. In a modification the threaded ring forming the flange 17 is replaced by a ring welded to the plate 22. Each slab may be of slag or expandible concrete and preferably has a metal frame connected to its steel reinforcement. The wall slab 12, Fig. 1, has at least two channels 13 for the tubes 16 and may also have channels lined with foamed plastics 36 for service conduits or air conditioning, and channels filled with glass wool or other insulation which may be bound with cement. The webs between channels may be divided by plates 35 of foamed insulating material.
