The invention comprises a triggering system for actuating cutters to separate a continuous adhesive-coated web 16 between separate laminµ 11 on a conveyer 14. The laminated materials on the conveyer 14 comprise spaced backing laminae 11 of wood veneer and two spaced webs 15, 16 having between them core components 13. The laminµ 11 are carried in turn by the conveyer 14 on to a ramp 226 and over a roller 227, and as the trailing edge 228 of each passes over roller 227 it drops, striking a pivoted arm contact 229 which operates a microswitch 233 sending an electrical impulse to the cutter. The impulse is only effective to operate the cutter if monitoring means 222 (Fig. 4) has been actuated by the leading edge portion 225 of the lamina 11. The means 222 consists of a roller follower 238 (Fig. 4) which is depressed by the leading edge portion 225 of lamina 11 to move a plunger assembly 239 which actuates a microswitch 240. A pressure wheel 245 (Fig. 3) is adjustably located in rolling contact with a limited width of the top web 16, its distance from the roller 227, which may be varied by moving the support 246 on an overhead bracket 247, and the adjustable pressure, ensuring positive operation of the sensing means 221 and adjustment of the time lag between the operation of the means 221 of the starting operation of the cutter.
