A guide for transferring a web from one web carrier to another, e.g. two rollers 2 and 3 in the drying plant of a paper-making machine, comprises a guide plate 4 and a high pressure blast pipe 6. The pipe 6 is arranged on the side of the plate 4 remote from the web 1 so that it sends an air jet through an opening 7 in guide plate and over that pad 4SP2/SP of the guide plate situated after the opening 7 in the direction of movement of the web. The lower part 4SP1/SP of the guide plate 4 may act as a doctor blade for removing the web from the roller 2. Various other embodiments are illustrated, all of which show different variations in mounting the blast pipe behind the guide plate.
