[Also in Division H2] A welder's mask adapted to be fitted on the head comprises a blackened glass plate 2 which is rotatable between an operative position (shown in full lines in Fig. 3) and an inoperative position (shown in broken lines), the movement of the plate being effected by means of an electric motor when the welder blows on a vane 34 to complete a circuit containing the motor. The plate 2 is pivoted about its horizontal centre line and in its two extreme positions abuts against a pair of flaps 9 secured to the frame of the mask. The vane 34 is pendulously supported within the casing 13 of the electric motor and switch mechanism and so returns to its initial position after actuation. The switch mechanism (see Division H2) is constructed so that actuation of the vane will move the plate from either position.
