The field windings 16, 20 (Fig. 1) of a twophase motor 18 driving a gyro are connected in a bridged T network with capacitors 26, 30 and resistor 38, the network being balanced, as shown by null indicator 44, when the motor is running at its correct speed. A change in speed changes the impedance of the windings and an output voltage is indicated on meter 44, or operates an alarm (not shown).
