Monoazo dyestuffs containing a quinoline residue and suitable for dyeing metal-modified polyolefin materials, and processes for producing and using them

The invention comprises monoazo dyes of the formula FORM:1090045/C4-C5/1 wherein R1 represents H or OCH3, and R2 an R3 each represents H, C1-C2 alkyl, or -C2H4OH. They may be prepared by coupling a diazotized 8-aminoquinoline with an m-N-substituted aminophenol. They are suitable for dyeing metal modified polyolefin materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,001,496.
