A process for the separation of the - reacted sugar from the in the production of zuckerfettsaeureestern from fatty acid alkyl esters chu and by means of a amounts of zuckernin dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dialkyl ulf oxide or butyrolactone resulting reaction mixture
Unreacted sugars in the reaction mixture obtained in the production of sugar fatty acid esters from fatty acid alkyl esters and excess amounts of sugars in dimethyl formamide, dimethyl acetamide, dialkyl sulphoxide or butyrolactone are separated by mixing the reaction mixture with an aliphatic hydrocarbon containing halogen atoms or with an aromatic halogen-containing or halogen-free hydrocarbon which is miscible with dimethyl formamide dimethyl acetamide, dialkyl sulphoxide or butyrolactone and which precipitates sugars, and the sugars which are precipitated are separated. The precipitation temperature is preferably from 20 DEG to 90 DEG C. Specified precipitants include methylene chloride, chloroform, 1,2-dichloroethane, 1,2-dichloropropane, benzene, toluene, xylene and chlorobenzene.
