摘要
Gases containing propylene are purified by mixing with hydrogen and passing over a catalyst containing palladium, platinum or rhodium or a mixture of two such metals, at above 120 DEG C. Propadiene and methyl acetylene are selectively hydrogenated. The catalyst may contain 0.001-1% of palladium and preferably also platinum or rhodium supported on alumina, silica, kieselguhr, carbon or diatomaceous earth. The gas may be passed at 400-10,000 standard volumes per hour per volume of catalyst at 120-250 DEG C. and 0-500 p.s.i.g. The gas may contain up to 2% by volume of impurities and hydrogen is added in amount of 1-50 times the stoichiometric quantity for hydrogenation of the impurities.
