1,094,135. Valves. BONSER ENGINEERING Ltd. Dec. 7, 1965 [Oct. 3, 1964], No. 36050/64. Heading F2V. A relief valve comprises a closure member 11, 12 integral with a stem 21 and biased towards a seat 10 by an adjustable spring 23. Annular discs 36, 36SP1/SP (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) supported at their outer peripheries engage the closure member and stem respectively and serve to maintain the closure member in axial alignment with the seat. The central hole through the discs is equal in diameter to the closure member or stem and radial cut-outs allow the discs to flex with the closure member so that no relative movement occurs. A rubber or like 0-ring 9 seals the annular space between the neck 6 of the seat and the housing. When the valve is unseated, fluid flows from the inlet 2 to outlets 35 via the discs 36, 36SP1/SP and ports 33, 30. In Fig. 3, (not shown), stem 21 is omitted and the closure member (12) is made hollow to receive a projection 50 on spring seat (48). One disc (36) is provided around the closure member. In Fig. 1, (not shown), the closure member is guided by rubber or like 0-rings 19 engaging the closure member and stem, the rings being arranged to deform with movement of the closure member and not roll.
