The angular elevation of a radar scanning aerial 1, driven by a motor 4, is measured by the rotor winding 7A of a resolver 7 whose A. C. - energized stator winding 7B is automatically maintained vertical by a servolink including a rotary pick-up 16 (e.g. an E-type transformer). One movable part 16B (e.g. the core of the transformer) is linked to a pendulum 17 to define the vertical. Deviation from the vertical of the other part 16A carrying the windings produces an error signal which is amplified at 18 to energize a motor 11, mechanically coupled to windings 16A and winding 7B and restores these parts to the vertical.
