[Also in Division F1] A surfboard or sea-sled craft comprises a body having a rearward substantially flatbottomed portion and a forward portion resembling the prow of a boat and having an aperture 14 therethrough for accommodating an outboard motor unit, the walls of the aperture being shaped to react against the wash of the propeller to provide lift and permit easy escape of the wash. The craft is formed by a moulded plastics lower section 10 and an upper section 12 connected via peripheral flanges 23, 36. The upper member has a flat surface 35 for the operator who may be standing or reclining thereon. The operator grasps controls 64 connected to a rudder 28 and also to an earthed plate to move the latter out of contact with posts connected to the ignition system of the motor to allow the motor to be started. Should the operator be thrown off the craft, said plate is returned by springs to its normal position in which it earths the ignition system and so stops the motor.
