An advancing mine roof support assembly Fig. 5, comprises two frames 1, 2 interconnected by an advancing jack 10 which has opposed portions 21, 22 and is articulated at 41, 42 to the floor bars 11, 12 of the two frames respectively. Interconnection between the jack 10 and the frames is also effected by links 51, 52 which are vertically displaceable in guideways formed in the floor skids and have blocks slidably projecting into grooves 10 formed in the member 10, a like linkage being disposed between the roof bars, (see Figs. 8, 9 and 10). In a modification, Fig. 15, the pistons 21, 22 of the jack 10 are connected to the props 3, 6 of each frame by a pivotal slot connection 71, 72 and are additionally connected to the floor skids 11, 12 thereof by swivel arms 14, 15 a like arrangement being provided for the roof bars whereby slip formations in the roof and floor as shown may be overcome. Further modifications are shown (e.g. in Figs. 16 and 22) which are arranged to accommodate floor and roof irregularities and involve spring bearing means.
