Improvements relating to leadscrew mechanisms

In a modification of the leadscrew mechanism described in Specification 914,165, the throttling restrictors 44 are not housed in the nut itself but are housed in a separate block 34 connected to the supply of high-pressure fluid. The throttling restrictors 44 comprise longitudinally bored rods mounted by circumferential ribs 45 and resilient sealing rings 46 in passages 38 which are connected by copper tubes 30 to the associated recesses in the surface of the nut. The block 34 comprises an upper portion 36 and a lower portion 35, a passageway 39 in the portion 36 interconnecting extension passages 38A and being connected by a passage 40 to an inlet socket 41. Test nipples 48 incorporating non-return ball valves are connected to the passages 38 so that the pressures may be checked by the application of a pressure gauge.
