Hemisuccinates and salts of the hemisuccinates of asiatic acid

Asiatic acid 3- and 23-hemisuccinates and their alkali and alkaline earth metal salts are prepared by reacting asiatic acid with a molar excess of succinic anhydride, optionally followed by separation of the isomeric hemisuccinates and/or salt formation. Aqueous solutions of these compounds may be used in medicine.
