摘要
1,140,958. Reducing iron ore. ESSO RESEARCH and ENG. CO. July 22, 1966 [July 30, 1965], No. 33135/66. Heading C7D. In a fluidized bed process for reducing oxidic iron ore with carbon monoxide-containing gas in which the latter has to be heated to a temperature within the range 800‹F. to 1500‹F. or heated through that range breakdown of carbon monoxide with deposition of carbon is suppressed by adding to the gas sulphur, hydrogen sulphide or a decomposable sulphur compound in such an amount as to provide a concentration of 1 to 1, 000 parts of sulphur per million parts of gas. Hydrogen sulphide is the preferred additive but many suitable organic compounds are listed. In a particular example spent reducing gases leaving a multi-stage reactor are cooled to remove water vapour, scrubbed to remove carbon dioxide, and, after the addition of hydrogen sulphide, reheated before being mixed with make-up gas produced by reaction of hydrocarbon gas with steam.
