A snow plough comprises a blade 1 with rearwardly extending plates 2 articulated to a framework 3, 4, 5, attached or attachable to a propelling vehicle, by links 9 and 11 in such a way that on meeting an obstacle the blade lifts bodily relative to the framework, the lower edge moving upwardly and rearwardly and the upper edge moving forward and downward. The lower edge of the blade is urged to a position adjacent the ground by springs 12 connecting the blade plates 2 with the framework plates 5. The framework 3, 4, 5 is supported adjacent its ends by wheels 14 and mounted at the centre of its length on the apex of a forwardly convergent A-form frame itself pivotally mounted for vertical angular movement on trunnions carried at the forward end of the propelling vehicle so that the blade and the framework can be lifted together from the ground.
