[Also in Division F1] In an I.C. engine including a crank-shaft having at least three journals supported in at least three main bearings knocking of the journals in the bearings is prevented by arranging that either all the journals are aligned and one of the bearings is misaligned with respect to the other bearings, or, as shown, the three bearings 5, 6 and 7 are aligned and one journal 3 is misaligned with respect to the other two 2 and 4. In the latter case, the crank-shaft may be machined so that journal 3 is misaligned or the misalignment may be produced by bending the crank-shaft.
