Means for altering the volume of a cushion 4 in response to variations in cushion pressure resulting from alterations in the height of the vehicle 1 above its ground surface 3 comprises a piston 6b, subject on its upper and lower faces respectively to ambient and cushion pressures, and movable by a jack 8 in turn actuated by an hydraulic servo system of which the control valve 10 is made responsive to pressure variations within the cushion by means of an associated capsule 11. Other embodiments incorporating sealed, pivoted plates, pistons moving against spring loading and flexible diaphragms are described.
