A method of sliding-mould concrete casting, and a sliding mould for use in such casting

Tapering chimneys &c., are cast in sliding shuttering the width of. which is reduced during the casting by removing part of the shuttering. At the corners of a rectangular structure the shuttering comprises metal plates 10 on which the wooden shuttering 3 slides during casting until the adjacent walls approach one another when a sufficient part of the walings 8 is cut off and shuttering panels removed to allow further sliding movement. To allow this sliding the walings 8 run on rollers on the yokes 6, 7. The yokes are raised by jacks 5 on rods in the concrete and are connected to posts 13 which with the yokes are drawn together by screwed rods 14 as casting proceeds. Each yoke 7 is pivoted to the post 13 under the control of screws so that the angle of the cast wall may be varied. The arms of the yoke are pivoted to allow variation of the thickness of the wall.
