[Also in Division F4] Apparatus for treating gas flowing to a stack, e.g. a flare stack, outlet comprises a housing 11 fitted with an internal wall 22 which supports a volume of liquid e.g. water 31, the gas passing into an inverted cupshaped member 32 submersed in the liquid via a pipe 29 in communication with the space below wall 22 and a further co-axial pipe 33, said gas then leaving member 32 through ports 43 or under excess pressure through annular space 46 between housing 11 and depending flange 44 of the member 32. At the outlet end of pipe 33 in a gas distributing member 37 provided with radial vanes 38. The gases pass to the bearer outlet via pipe 10 extending from the top of housing 11 and any liquid entrained in the gases collect on a baffle 48 surrounding the inlet to pipe 10. The gases enter housing 11 through a tangential inlet 26 and pass around annular space 24 formed 'by baffle 23. Any liquid particles in the gases are deposited on the housing wall and collect in a wall 17 fixed within the housing and provided with drain conduit 18.
