Culture medium, for bacteria contained in blood and other body fluids, comprising H+ and Mg++ exchange resins and a source of citrate ions. Methods enables prodn. on an industrial scale. The exchange resins are pref. of the type styrene-sulphone and the source of citrate ions is pref. sodium citrate. Pref. quantities used are, H+ 100-400 mg/10 ml. blood, Mg++ 25-100 mg/10 ml. blood and ca. 100 mg. sodium citrate/10 ml. blood. The pH is pref. kept between 5.0-6.5.
