[Also in Division E1] A ship-building yard comprises an assembly site 1 with a part bounded by a floodable enclosure 10 and an adjoining basin 2 which is separated from open water by a dike or embankment 7 provided with lock or caisson gates 8. The site is provided with a workshop 3 and ship sections 5 constructed therein are transported on vehicles 6 along rail tracks 4 to the hull being assembled. When a hull is completed it is enclosed by an enclosure 10 formed of elements attached to rails 4 and supported from other rails 4 by struts 12, the enclosure being connected via transverse extensions 11 with the embankment 7 of the basin 2. Water level in the basin is raised to flood the enclosure so that the hull may be floated out of same into the basin.
