[Also in Divisions B2 and C7] A shield for protection against neutron and gamma radiation, is formed by depositing, on a steel plate, a refractory, thermal neutron absorbing coating. Powdered boron carbide is fed into an electric arc plasma and sprayed on to the plate. Other suitable refractory materials are boron, cadmium, indium, europium, hafnium and gadolinium in the form of carbides or alloys.
