1,129,472. False-twist crimping yarn. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. 18 Oct., 1965 [30 Oct., 1964], No. 44340/64. Headings D1F and D1W. A "false-twist" crimp rigidity (as determined by the test at 20 ‹C described in the Journal of the Textile Institute 1960, Transaction T435) of above 40% is imparted to 70 denier 34 filament nylon yarn by using suitable values ,of the yarn tension upstream and downstream of the false-twist device-for example between 5 and 9 gms. and 8 and 12 gms. respectively. The false-twist device and heater used may be those described in Specifications 1,085,052 and 1,089,793 respectively. The yarn may be posttreated to reduce the crimp elongation by heating the yarn on the run whilst in a partially relaxed state, or by steam treating a package of the yarn in a partially relaxed state.
