Making container bottoms. Middle section is a spherical segment, and has a flanging radius and a cylindrical edge, and is made by pressure shaping of a flat round which is held by a central clamp on a rotating plane disc and shaped by a pressure roller whose movement is controlled, in a collet. The edge zone of the round which overhangs the collect is first formed around the annular edge. The central region is then spherically shaped by the axially journalled clamps, which is released in the last shaping phase and is removed from the shaping region. The partly shaped round is again clamped, outside the collet, and the flanging radius and cylindrical edge are pressed immediately.
