The substrate and the polymerisable compd. are at a reaction temp. lying in the glass transition temp. range of the high polymer forming the substrate. The polymerisable compd. and the substrate are pref. irradiated together while held at the glass transition temp. of the substrate, pref. under oxygen free conditions.
