1283697 Light-sensitive lead iodide or bromide recording material AGFA GEVAERT 4 Nov 1969 [12 Nov 1968] 53669/68 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive recording material comprises lead iodide or lead bromide or a crystalline mixture thereof dispersed in a hydrophilic binder with a sensitizing sulphur compound which is: (1) a thiol compound or thiolate wherein the -SH group is non- tautomeric, (2) a compound of the formula:- wherein MSP+/SP is a cation and R is an organic group, (3) a compound yielding HSO 3 SP-/SP ions, (4) a compound yielding SO 3 SP2-/SP ions, (5) a compound yielding HOCH 2 -SO-OSP-/SP ions, SO 2 SP2-/SP ions or M-O-S-OSP-/SP ions, wherein M is a cation, (6) a compound yielding SSP2-/SP ions, or M-SSP-/SP ions wherein M is a cation, (7) a compound yielding S 2 O 4 SP2-/SP ions, (8) a compound yielding SCNSP-/SP ions, (9) an organic isothiocyanate, (10) a compound containing a -S-C(NH 2 ) = NH group, (11) a compound containing a #P=S group, (12) a compound containing a -S-S- group, (13) a compound containing a -S x - group wherein x is at least 2, (14) a compound containing a -SR 1 group wherein R 1 is an organic group linked through carbon to the S atom, (15) a compound containing a -S-C(X)=N- group wherein X is an amino or hydrazino group, and said sulphur-containing group makes part of a heterocyclic ring or ring system, (16) a compound of As, Sb, or Sn known as thiosalts, or (17) a selenium or tellurium compound that has reducing properties and/or that contains a releasable selenium or tellurium atom, and/or a chemical compound as particularly mentioned in Table 3 of the Specification or (18) a compound of the formulae H 2 C = CHCH 2 -NHCS-NH 2 , H 2 N-CS-NH 2 , H 2 N-CS-NH-NH 2 , (H 2 N) 2 C = SO 2 , H 2 N-CS-NH-NH-CS-NH 2 , H 3 CCO-NH-CS-NH 2 , H 2 N-CS-CS-NH 2 or K 2 CS 3 . The hydrophilic binder may be a water-permeable hydrophilic colloid, e.g. gelatine. The material may contain a wetting agent or water-attracting compound e.g. glycerol, a low molecular weight polyoxyethylene glycol or a water-attracting salt or metal oxide, such as lithium chloride. Print out or developing out images may be produced. The material may be exposed while moistened with an aqueous solution containing a sensitizing compound as set forth above. Numerous sensitizing sulphur compounds are listed.
