The assembly comprises a photoelectric pick-up having a system for scanning the contour line to be copied by a scanning beam, and signal converters. Each of the converters converts the instantaneous values of the reference signals occuring during each scanning period into input signals of the photoelectric pick-up drive device and the machine operating element. This operation takes place at intervals determined by the photoelectric pick-up according to corresponding intersections between the scanning beam and the contour line to be copied.
