[Also in Division C3] A method of producing chemically resistant wall panels, shaped bricks or tiles comprises mixing 50 to 150 parts (by weight) of quartz sand of grain size up to 15 mm. with 10 parts furfuryl alcohol, adding 2 to 7 parts of a catalyst comprising urea dinitrate on a silicate carrier and furfural in an amount ranging from 0À3 parts when hardening is effected at 60‹ C. to 4 parts when hardening is effected at 20‹ C.; thoroughly mixing the mixture; filling it into a mould and compacting it; and hardening the compacted mixture at 20‹ to 80‹ C. Up to 40% of the furfural and furfuryl alcohol may be replaced by a phenoplast, aminoplast or epoxy resin. The same composition, possibly with a smaller grain size filler, may be used as a binder to join or repair the moulded structural elements made by the method.
