An outer annular projection 5 on an aluminium or aluminium alloy pipe 1 is brazed to the wall of an aluminium or aluminium alloy tank 2 with a portion of the pipe projecting through a hole 5 in the wall. The aluminium or aluminium alloy pipe 1 is provided by rolling or hammering with the annular projection 5 spaced from its inner end 3, the end 3 is passed into a hole 4 in the wall of an aluminium or aluminium alloy radiator tank so that the projection abuts the wall and the assembly is heated to melt brazing alloy e.g. aluminium silicon alloy provided on the outer surface of the wall and on the outer surface of the pipe by coating or in a flux. A ring of the alloy may alternatively be used and the heating may be effected in an oven or by immersion in a flux bath. The parts are held e.g. in a jig and the pressure exerted is such that substantially no elastic deformation of the parts occurs. The end 3 of the pipe may be bent to engage the inner surface of the wall of the tank or the end of the pipe may be provided with at least two lugs which are bent against the inner surface of the wall.
