摘要
Impurities are removed from gases circulating in a system for the high-pressure polymerization of ethylene at 50 to 800 atmospheres and 10 DEG to 80 DEG C., after removal of high molecular polymer and before recirculation of said gases to the polymerization system, by passing said gases through a layer of natural or artificial sintered or foamy porous material. The porous material may be generator slag, coke, pumice stone or sintered metal, of particle size 3-100 mm., preferably 10-30 mm. The material is said to remove low molecular liquid polymers and compressor lubricant, and may be regenerated by blowing with steam. In examples, gases from ethylene polymerization systems are purified by passing through columns filled with (1) generator slag, (2) lignite coke, and (3) pumice.ALSO:Gases circulating in a system for the high pressure polymerization of ethylene are purified, after removal of high molecular polymer and before recirculation of said gases to the polymerization system, by passing through a layer of natural or synthetic sintered or foamy porous material.
