1326045 Two part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 27 Nov 1970 [15 Dec 1969] 56524/70 Heading H2E In an electric connector, contacts 40 in one half 10 are retained by annular projections 78 and 64, of flexible, resilient, dielectric bodies 52, 50, the projections abutting opposite sides of the raised shoulders 46 of the contacts, the dielectric bodies sandwiching an isolation disc 88 which may be of yieldable silicone rubber material. Each annular projection on body 52 is split into a series of tines, Fig. 2, (not shown), separated by gaps 81, the tines being urged inwards by the silicone rubber around them, so that they snap fit behind a contact introduced from the back of the connector, said contact being removable using a sleeve tool to spread the tines. The dielectric bodies and the isolation disc are bonded together and retained within the connector case 14 by shoulder 38 and the resilient skirt 30 which snaps into engagement with recess 72. A similar arrangement in the second part of the connector 12 secures contacts 41. A longer forward insulating insert 96 being included. A bayonet type fitting 30, 32, holds the two halves in contact, a seal 36 being included. Potting compound 84 secures the soft silicone rubber grommets 82 to the shells 14, 20. Section 10 of the connector may be panel mounted using flange 16 and a securing nut on the threads 18.
