1306028 Phosphorus-containing pyrazole derivatives BAYER AG 29 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 35676/71 Headings C2P and C2C Novel compounds of the general formula wherein R is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, R 1 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl or C 1 -C 6 alkoxy, R 2 is a C 2 -C 4 alkyl radical and Y is O or S are obtained by reacting a compound of the formula wherein Hal is halogen, with a pyrazole derivative of the formula in the form of a salt or in the presence of an acid binding agent. The process is suitably effected at 40-120‹ C. and is preferably carried out in an inert solvent or diluent, e.g. a hydrocarbon or chlorinated hydrocarbon or an ether, nitrile or ketone. The products have pesticidal properties and may be used in admixture with liquid or solid diluents or carriers and optionally surface active agents. The compositions may be in the form of solutions, emulsions, emulsifiable concentrates, suspensions, spray powders, pastes, soluble powders, dusting agents or granulates. 1 - Methyl - 3 - hydroxy - 4 - cyano - 5 - ethylmercapto pyrazole is obtained by heating the compound of the formula with methyl hydrazine in absolute ethanol, distilling off the ethyl sulphide formed, and then diluting the reaction mixture with water and allowing the product to crystallize out.
