1,204,485. Reciprocating conveyers; rotary elevators. DAWSON BROS. Ltd. 1 Dec., 1967 [2 Dec., 1966], No. 54068/66. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions C7 and F4] Articles, e.g. cylinder heads or blocks, are cleaned by feeding them intermittently along a conveyer 24, by self disengaging dogs 25x on a reciprocating bar 25, to a rotary cage 28 having four arms 31 each having two work holders. While an article is being received at 2, articles are being washed by jets at 90 degrees positions 3 and 6, the article at 4 is pushed by a head 32 to a rear position 5, and the article at 7 is removed by the conveyer. The articles are then transferred to a similar rotary cage 29, where they are dried by jets or currents of air. The rotary cages may be arranged to pass through gaps in the conveyer. A similar rinsing chamber may also be provided.
