A composition comprises natural or synthetic rubber and as tackifier therefor a copolymer comprising 40 to 80 weight per cent of units derived from pentadiene, and 60 to 20 weight per cent of units derived from 2-methyl-2- butene. Suitable rubbers include EP and EPDM rubber, polybutadiene, polyisoprene, butyl rubber, and butadiene-styrene rubber. The tackifying copolymer may also contain up to 25% by weight of units derived from other hydrocarbons, e.g. isoprene, pentene-2 and 2,3-dimethyl- 1 -butene.
