Roller hearth tunnel furnace for the firing of tube or rod shaped articles comprises rollers, mounted on trolleys in such a way as to be vertically free to move, with axle stubs which engage rails on either wall of the furnace, the rollers being rotated during movement of the trolleys by virtue of their gripping the rails.
