The adjusting and testing system for a carburettor comprises a vacuum chamber to contain the carburettor. A mixture-receiving line from the chamber leads to a vacuum pump and has a branch to atmosphere containing a throttle actuated in response to the deviation of the actual line pressure from the desired value. Air enters the chamber via a variable orifice plate with an upstream inlet section containing a throttle actuated to obtain the desired pressure. The pressure differential measured across the orifice controls an actuator adjusting the carburettor throttle.
