摘要
The dye-affinity of fibres of linear polyesters is improved by first treating the polyester fibres with methylene chloride and/or perchlorethylene and then graft polymerising with 2-vinylpyridine, 4-vinyl-pyridine and/or N-vinylimidazole under the influence of ionising radiation. Acrylonitrile may be graft polymerised onto the polyester together with the vinyl nitrogen compound(s). In an example 10g of a polyethylene terephthalate textile fabric was soaked 10 mins in methylene chloride at room temperature, dried in air, slop-padded with 4g 4-vinylpyridine and then irradiated with gamma-radiation under nitrogen atmosphere. Unreacted monomer and homopolymer were removed and the fabric washed and dried. The fabric had a weight gain of 37% and could be dyed with acid dyestuffs.
