The pump has a piston (5) reciprocating in a cylinder (1). A polyamide membrane (14) is clamped round its edges between the upper and lower sectiosn (3, 2) of the cylinder. The centre of the membrane is attached to the underside of the piston by a screw (13). - The lower part (16) of the piston is of a reduced diameter with a conical section (8) between it and the upper part. The cylinder has a widened section (10) immediately above the membrane with a conical section (11) between it and the narrower part. There are flexible polyamide discs (16) above the membrane in the space between the narrow end of the piston and the widened cylinder section. They prevent the membrane from buckling and increase the life of the pump.
