The Pb-Ca alloy sample is introduced into a Pb melt containing O, and the Ca content detd. by measuring the emf of the solid electrolytic cell of type Pt, air (P02 0.21 at)/ZrO2(+CaO)/Pbliq (+Dissolved). The solid electrolyte consists of a ZrO2 tube closed at one end, and the reference electrode is a Pt plate in air.
