A mixture of wood fibres, e.g. sawdust, and paraffin glycerin or the like is used in a kneadable form to give the shape of the terrain. Continuous chains of moulded plastic elements with joints for length adjustment and flexible cord or wire cores are used to represent roads railways, rivers etc. and the whole is covered with a transparent film which may be sprayed on after the model is made.
