Novel 2-oxazolidinone derivatives of the formula wherein R is H, halogen, CF 3 or C 1-4 alkyl are prepared by reacting the corresponding 1- phenylamino - 2,3 - propanediol with ethyl carbonate. Pharmaceutical compositions, having antidepressive, myorelaxing, tranquillizing; sedative, analgesic, anti-convulsive, anti-pyretic, anti-inflammatory and uricosuric activities, contain the above novel compounds and therapeutically acceptable carriers. The composition may be in the form of tablets or gelules.
