Controlling the weft thread tension in a - shuttle-less loom

The weft thread is inserted half-way across the warp by an insertion lance where it is collected by a receiving lance and drawn across the other half, and the thread ends are held by jaws on respective lances at each edge of the warp. The lance mountings are moveable in straight or curved guides parallelly with the edges of warp to move the weft thread into the apex angle of the shed, and the thread ends are not released pref. until the wrap layers have crossed to close the shed. Irregular contraction of the wrap during beating up is prevented.
