Refractory aluminous cement, suitable for use in refractory hydraulic mortars and heat-resistant concrete, for furnace wall and combustion chambers operating at 1300-1700 degrees C, consists of fused particles, and contains 0.1-4.8 wt.% V2O5 and/or 0.5-10 wt.% of Nb2O5 and/or 3.6-22 wt.% tiO2 and/or at least 5.5 wt.% MgO, in addition to 50-75 wt.% Al2O3.
