[Also in Division H3] An airborne navigation or communications receiver having oscillator mixer tuning elements selected by a rotary knob on the chassis has a component circuit assembly mounted in a separate sub-chassis, within the main chassis and replaceable as an independent unit, e.g. as shown in Fig. 2. Electrical interconnections between sub-chassis circuit is preferably by plug and socket arrangements (not shown) or by soldering. As shown in Fig. 4, coaxial shafts S4, S5, S6 coupled to frequency selector switches in unit 3 carry cogs C4, C5, C6 which when unit 3 is inserted mesh with cogs C1, C2, C3 on coaxial shafts S1, S2, S3 operated by knobs and journalled in the front plate 2 of the main chassis. The cogs C4, C5, C6 also mesh with indicator disc cogs C7, C8, C9. The shafts in unit 3 and the indicator disc shafts are arranged to rotate stepwise to discrete angular positions their movements from these positions being impeded by a detent.
