They may be prepared by reacting alicyclic alcohols or branched-chain alcohols or ethoxylated derivatives thereof with sulphocarboxylic anhydrides or acid chlorides, or by transesterification reactions. Examples are given for the preparation of the compounds. They are useful as coating aids for film-forming coating compositions.
