1313439 Hydroxylamine nitrate UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION 13 Sept 1971 [12 Oct 1970] 42540/71 Heading C1A Hydroxylamine nitrate is prepared by passing an aqueous solution of hydroxylamine sulphate over a strongly acidic cation exchange resin whereby the hydroxylamine is absorbed on the resin, washing the remaining sulphate ion from the bed with water and passing on aqueous nitric acid solution through the bed to elute the hydroxylamine as the nitrate. Preferably a 1M solution of hydroxylamine sulphate is used, and the eluant may be 1 to 3M. The process may be carried out at temperatures between 10‹ and 40‹ C. with flow rates through the bed of from 6 to 10 ml./min.-cm.SP2/SP.
